For FOMPS this year has all been about bringing the community together to celebrate 50 years of Monkton Park School.
The scarecrow trail in May was our biggest yet with 50 scarecrows to mark 50 years!
Last Saturday we had our birthday party Monkfest and it was such a great day! We had a vision for a Monkton Park festival that welcomed pupils, staff and families, past and present. Back in April we launched a MPS Memories page on Facebook to connect with past pupils and staff and invite them back.
And they came! The first ever Reception teacher, Mrs Bollen attended with her children. One ex-pupil travelled up from Penzance just for the day! Watching reunions take place amongst the Monkfest madness was very special indeed.
100 volunteers made the event run smoothly on the day itself. All juggling families, work, and the daily grind! Thank you to everyone who got involved. If Monkfest is not amazing example of a community coming together I don’t know what is!
So apart from having the best day, reminiscing with past pupils and making memories with the current ones what else did we achieve?
A staggering £4,397.22 towards our outdoor classroom!
It was an amazing scarecrow trail this year, a lovely, community atmosphere, with people travelling from far and wide.
We sold just over 350 trail sheets and the event raised a staggering £2,315.80 for the school's outside classroom/wildlife project.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this event, thanks to our sponsors for their generosity, and thanks to everyone who made it happen.
