Coming in to School
The school is open from 8:45am each day when children can come into classes. There will be an activity for the children to do in class prior to registration at 9:00am. We have a 15 minute coming in time to help alleviate the congestion on Sadler's Mead. However there is always a lot of traffic outside school at the beginning and end of each school day. We ask that as many children as possible walk to school and we ask all drivers to be considerate of our neighbours.
Doors will be closed at 9.00am. Late arrivals should come to the main school reception.
We encourage all children to be as independent as possible on their arrival in school. Independence is a key skill and the ability of children to organise themselves is vitally important.
Children who are well organised are ready to learn, and want the start of the day to be as productive as possible with teaching and learning promptly underway in all classes. We appreciate that new Reception children do need help settling in, but as the term progresses we like them be able to organise themselves on arrival in school. We expect children in Year 1 upwards to organise their own lunchboxes, book-bags and coats on arrival in school, and encourage parents to say goodbye to them at the classroom doors.
We do appreciate that there are times when you need to speak to your child’s teacher, who will always take urgent messages at the start of the day. However we would ask that if you need to talk to a teacher at greater length that you arrange to see them after school.
We ask that children use the following entrances:
Fieldmice: Year Reception
Please bring the children to the classroom through the gate in the outside area and into the class directly through the external door. The lunchbox trolley will be by the door. At the end of the day please wait outside the new play area. The children will be dismissed from the gate.
Rabbits: Year Reception and Year 1
Please bring the children to the door directly into the class. Children will be encouraged to hang up their own coats and store their lunchboxes. At the end of the day children will be dismissed from the class.
Hedgehogs: Year 1
Please bring the children through the gate in the new outside area and into the class directly through the external door. The lunchbox trolley will be by the door. At the end of the day please wait outside the new play area. The children will be dismissed from the gate.
Otters: Year 2
The Otters class is the only class that cannot easily be accessed from an external classroom door. Please bring the children to the infant entrance. This class will be the only class using this entrance and we would then like the children to come into school by themselves, hang up their own coats, put their lunch boxes on the trolley by the classroom door and then go into class. The Class teacher or teaching assistant will meet children at the main door.
Key Stage 2
We expect all children in Key Stage 2 to sort out their own coats and lunchboxes. Please say goodbye to them outside the class entrances.
Squirrels, Owls, Pine Martens, Foxes and Badgers
All the children should come through the external classroom doors directly into their classes.
The main Key Stage 2 entrances will not be open in the morning and we would also ask that parents who need to come to the office come through the main school entrance.
