Squirrels' class visit Chippenham Town Football Club

On Friday 2nd May Squirrels’ class went to Chippenham Town FC.  After a quick 30 minute walk we finally arrived at Huish park.  First we went up to the club house to meet our coaches for the day Pete and Michael.    We also met Barry who is the community development officer for the football club.  Then it was time to get started.  We made our way to the dome.  We first had to warm up and Michael had us all running around getting our hearts pumping and muscles all warmed up.  Then Michael showed us some football skills that we practised.  After a quick drinks break we were split into boys and girls and then the fun began.  Michael coached the boys in a very exciting match that had lots of goals and they even showed us some of their goal celebrations.

The girls were coached by Pete and they played an exciting numbers game.  We were all exhausted by the end and ready for a break.  Waiting for us in the club house was Sandy who told us all about the history of Chippenham Town FC.  They even made it to Wembley once!  After our lunch Pete gave us a guided tour around the ground.  We were able to visit all the places that we wouldn’t normally be allowed in.  We visited the referee’s room where we saw some of the first team’s shirts.  Then we visited the away and home changing rooms.  The home changing room was much nicer than the away one and we were able to put on the music that the first team listen to; we all had a dance around.

We all had a fantastic day and a big thanks to Pete, Barry, Michael and Sandy for a wonderful day.  And a huge thanks for our goody bags.  We are all looking forward to watching Chippenham Town FC play next season.

Come on the bluebirds!
