Squirrels' visit to Chippenham Town Football Club

On Friday 11th March, we spent the day at Chippenham Town FC.  After a brisk walk to the ground we were met by Pete Hussey, who was our host for the day.  We dropped our bags in the club house and then headed out for our coaching session.  Paul Harvey was our coach and he wasted no time getting us all warmed up with lots of fun games.  Then we were learning some new skills.  We learnt how to perform the scissors, the double scissors and then the Cruyff turn.  It was so a little tricky but so much fun.  We had one final practise of our newly learnt skills before we played some matches.  Penalties followed the matches and it was the girls who were able to score past the goalkeeper.  We then went back to the club house for a talk about the history of Chippenham Town FC.  Did you know that they have played at the old Wembley stadium?

After lunch, we had the excitement of being able to ask the manager, Mark Collier, questions.  There was a variety of questions asked from, who is your favourite player?  What is the greatest number of goals scored in a single match? To the more obsecure, What is your favourite animal? Do you have a wife?

Then it was off on the ground tour.  We saw the medical room, sat in the stands and we were lucky enough to visit the referee's room as well as the home and away changing rooms.

We all had a fantastic day, thank you Chippenham Town FC for inviting us.
