Our Curriculum
We are really proud of the curriculum on offer at Monkton Park and strive to ensure that we have a variety of rich learning opportunities. Our whole curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that children build a wealth of knowledge, understanding and experiences as they progress through school. Writing
We use Talk for Writing to structure our writing lessons and ensure children build great writing skills.

Reading
Our reading lessons are taught using the Talk for Reading scheme and encourage a love of reading.



Maths
Maths is taught through the White Rose scheme, ensuring that children build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
Physical Education
PE and sport is central to so much of what we do at Monkton Park. Children get the chance to learn from experienced sports coaches.

Geography
Children learn about a range of concepts to help develop their understanding in both human and physical geography.


History
During their time at Monkton Park children get the opportunity to learn about a wide range of historic events, people and concepts.

Art & Design
Art and design is taught using a scheme from Kapow and we regularly have artists in school to enrich our art curriculum.
Computing
We use a scheme called Kapow to build children's understanding of digital literacy, computer science and information technology.

Music
We use a scheme called Charanga to build children's understanding of listening and appraising, creating and exploring and singing, playing instruments and performing



RSE
Our PHSE lessons aim to prepare children for life, helping them really know and value who they are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.

Religious Education
Our RE lessons teach children about a range of faiths, cultures and beliefs.


OPAL
OPAL is a programme that addresses all the areas that schools must plan for if they want to strategically and sustainably improve the quality of their play opportunities.

Science
Children learn about science through a range of concepts and practical
investigations.
